Winter's here

I'm cosying up to keep warm when it's below zero outside. I usually hate winters because the slippery ground is driving me mad. This is the time of the year when you have to be cautious to not fall - it ridiculous! Yet I love some of the things one can wear when there's ice everywhere.

Here're some of my Italian buys. The suede leather boots will probably become a mess in the snowy (meaning snow+salt on the streets) Ukrainian winter. But I could not resist the colour! So I'll just be cautious (yet again) and hope for the best with them.

Anyway, the streets are looking pretty fairy-like at night. Can't wait until New Year...

Busy busy busy bee

That's me at MANGO before the start of Shopping Party at our company's store in Kyiv

TOPSHOP jeans, H&M coat, TOPSHOP boots. Yes, I'm very much into high street right now.
Ah, I miss writing on THIS page, since now I'm blogging for the company i work for, too. CHICLASH actually feels like home, when I have another blog to maintain.

A couple of weeks ago I visited London and had another shopping marathon (what else is to expect, if I practically worship the Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush!) and I bought so many things i want you to see, my dear readers. But I can't bring myself to photograph anything! And you can imagine how much shopping I had been doing if I tell you that I went to London for 5 days and did not bring a single photograph back with me. Not a single one!

That previous office girl post - it's no joke. It's actually taking up a lot of my time, so all I do at home is sleep. Therefore, I'll just post a glimpse of my first work experiences in the high street fashion indusrty.

Hope you all have a great Friday!

The office girl

Did I mention that I have found a job? I now work for Argo, a company that brought Benetton, Guess, Mango, Miss Sixty and more to Ukraine. I'm in the marketing and advertising department.

We have now started up our own blog. It's called Argo Notebook. It's in russian, but everyone can go and check out the photographs.

Felt like I needed to share the information with you, my fellow bloggers. =)

Hope you all have a great week!

Backstage at UFW

This is what happened between the KAMENSKAYAKONONOVA and ARTEMKLIMCHUK shows this Monday.

Thanks to an acquaintance, I managed to sneak backstage and photograph the fascinating scenes: models removing their make-up fom previous shows and getting ready to go for their next make-up and hairdo, practicing their walk and grabbing a quick bite. I always love the backstage buzz.

Photographs by me.

UFW - an intruder’s report

No matter how much I dream of making a fashion career some day, I believe it is great to just enjoy a fashion week from a blogger’s point of view – you are not really involved in anything, but you can somehow mix with everything around you.

While designers, stylists, photographers, models and producers were buzzing around putting the shows together, I blissfully exercised my camerawork for my own pleasure (and for my readers’ enjoyment, of course).

One of my co-workers
This is what I ended up with outfit-hunting before a show at the Ukrainian Fashion Week. It was my first trip to the UFW in ages. And I’m left feeling very inspired to blog and force people to pose for my camera.
Enjoy!

NY state of mind

Recently, I have been dreaming of going to the NYC, even though I'm more of a Europe girl (meaning that Milan and London were always the deram cities for me before). Yet, I guess it's time to think about a visit to the USA.

Maybe I have watched too much of Sex and the City (I know, I know it's old, but I still can't help loving the series), maybe it's the Americana boom in the S/S 2010 fashion, or maybe it's something else, but New York fascinates me.

And how exciting it was to find yet another outrageously cool V Magazine editorial dedicated to NY lifestyle! It's a photoshoot by the genius Mario Testino, featuring muscians, designers, choreographers, artists, publishers etc., amongst whom there are Marc Jacobs, Chloe Sevingy, Lady Gaga, Liya Kebede, Mark Ronson and other influential souls. Enjoy.

The marine!

I spent half of July and the end of August in Sankt-Petersbourg, Russia, with my boyfriend.

The city, although it's not really a seaside one, is very much into sailors, ships and all things nautical. The Neva river is buzzing with ships, and the so called "white nights" (when it practically doesn't get dark at night) are oh so beautiful. And a part of the Gulf of Finland is there, so I guess SPB can be called a nautical city.

Therefore, I had a perfect opportunity to go very nautical myself and strut my stuff in my Whistles dress and Carvela open-toed ankle boots (and please do not judge the face on the picture).

"The tree is taller than the woman. But the tree does not have the sequin bag."

Before I saw the French Conenction spring/summer 2010 campaign, I had never really paid this brand's ads much attention. Or at least not as much as they deserve. But when I saw "The woman is knowing we are looking" and bunny ears on the manliest of manly models I fell in love with that campaign.

This season's concept has not been disapponting either. The quirky sayings in charmingly incorrect "Frenched-up" English are genius. Look at the full collection here.

"The woman riders her trousers down the staircase."

"Do you start from watch or brogue?"

"The dress makes the silly men walk funny."

"Feel like wolf."

"Jacket. Waxed. Like moustache."

Make sure you watch the short movies of this campaign, too. They are ever so cute.

The Fashion Bible and It's Icons

I'm always fascinated by Vogue. Who isn't? It's this one great - not just magazine - one great brainstorm of fashion inspiration that all fashionistas consider and follow in some ways (even if they try to deny it).

And even more fascinating are the Vogue covers. The cover of the very first Russian Vogue features a famous singer Alla Pugacheva. Some may think her too corny and cliche but to me she's one great icon of the Russian music world. The woman has rocked the eighties with her phenomenal voice and ginger hair. This Vogue issue made her plain dark style look very very chic. Very Vogue.
