Featured in Australia

I have been featured on 2threads.com - an Australian online fashion magazine as one of their favourite bloggers! I'm very flattered, thank you guys!

Time for bows

It's official: it's autumn, and I think it's the best time for splashes of terracota and ankle boots. And here's me after a long day at uni and work.

The Sunday post

Sundays are always so incredibly slow and lazy, so today I decided to use this lovely space in my hectic schedule to tell about the PRESS SHOPPING DAY at Gap that I had been invited to. On Tuesday, I went to the brand’s store in Kiev to meet the Brand Manager and Gap’s  PR people in Ukraine

Here are a few photographs from uni taken on the same day. My friend Nat and I simultaneously worked the androgyny look. Enjoy.

Topshop tee, Gap waistcoat, H&M belt, Topshop leggings, Mango boots, Love Moschino bag. Can it get more high-street than this?

Now, about the party. It was a nice evening with wine, a DJ, conversations about where the brand is moving and a gift certificate which I used later to buy a very cute leather belt (thank you, guys!).

For me Gap has always been a place to shop for the basics (preferable when the sales start). I never saw it as an original fashion brand, although the quality is good. It surprises me that the brand has grown in the last couple of years, and now it has some pretty interesting things to offer.

It’s very interesting to watch how retailers and magazines in my country start to become aware that bloggers make a difference. Suddenly we become VIP buyers, we get invited to shows, magazines hold competitions among us. To be honest, I like it.

Daydreams

I have been daydreaming about one particular cardigan for several weeks now. It’s designed by ARTEM KLIMCHUK (a Ukrainian designer who deserves a separate looong post), it’s grey, it has huge sequins and it looks absolutely damn gorgeous.

BUT it’s beyond my budget right now. Which is very, very unfortunate. Maybe Santa will bring it for Christmas. =)

The mood of today

Buraka Som Sistema - these guys from Portugal really make my day. I danced on the train to work.

On seasons and geography: the paradox

I have never writtent about Australia before. Yet after today's online shopping and internet screening I think we need to get fascinated by it more. Do you know what we never actually think about fashion-wise? We never think that fashion is not global. We are used to seeing things in universal terms. Well, it just occurred to me that they are not.

When it’s about to get cool here in my country, I didn’t realize it was only starting to become spring down south. Guys, it’s springtime in the Southern hemisphere! And do you know what they have? They have their S/S 2011-2012 season. And we never get that. That exotic fact left my brain burning and yearning for research today.

So I did mine and I realized that we could even use some of their trends and collections here, up north. I came across an interesting Australian designer – Jane Lamerton – at the Myer online store. In particular, I loved this shift tunic dress - it has a sixties silhouette (oh so big this season) and the most perfect colour combination for this print.

I can see myself wearing it on the rainy streets of Kyiv (they are about to become so) with a black biker jacket, polka-dot black tights and these new Mango ankle boots I bought recently. Basically, it'd make it look heavier and rock it up a bit. Maybe I should even place an order and wait till it crosses the ocean.
Watch me wear these soon. They are my big plan for October.

Although the dress was most probably made with the beach and cool poolside evenings in mind (I can see it with lovely killer heels and a champagne). That's the thing about today's fashion: just place an item from one collection into a different environment and it will shift seasons. Fashion is transitional and we hardly realise it.

Still not over

When flicking through The Sartolialist September posts I saw them yet again combined so finely with the midi skirt and the slouchy cardigan. Ah, the Prada S/S '11 platforms make my heart beat faster. No matter how much time goes by, I'll probably never get over them. Oh well.

On yellow

These are the last days of warmth in Kiev before heavy rains and preparations for winter start, therefore, one needs to stay sunny. These Timberland topsiders are my statement shoes for this autumn. And boy are they comfortable. I wore them to uni today, paired with Replay dungarees. The vest ic from Cos, the cardigan is Topshop and I got a pair of Mango shades there, too.

I'm very serious about switching to flats right now. Heels are sexy, but we just gotta stay comfortable with all the books and laptops we carry to work (just look at how much I'm holding in my hands on the photo there).

Blogger bonanza at The One

On Wednesday, I went to an event at The One - one of the loveliest and cosy showrooms in Kyiv. Fashion bloggers and journalists got a special offer - we could buy 1 item by a Ukrainian designer for just 10% of the original price. The selection process leading up to this caused quite a stir, I can tell you.

The event was very exciting. I felt like I was in the company of girlfriends preparing to go to a party - the bloggers helped each other to pick out the clothes, advised on combining them and discussed the upcoming Kiev Fashion Days.

As for me, I added a see-through top with patches of mint and khaki wool fabric by Anton Belinskiy to my wardrobe.I wore it to a party yesterday. Don't have a proper photo of it yet, but here's a glimpse.

Knowing that Ukrainian blogsphere get more and more involved in the development of fashion world makes me extremely happy. Thank you, Alina Malushkina, for organising this! We had a great evening.

A love letter to my favourite town

I miss London. Five years of my adolescence were spent in this beautiful, special city. What I really miss is its spirit. The britishness that cannot be mistaken for anything else is, of course, also one major fashion statement.

As a cliché, Eastern Europeans who have never been to the UK perceive British style as that which is very conservative, modest and elegant. Elegancy is one thing, but modesty is far from what I love in English fashion.

There is, in my opinion, no other nation that is so honest and free about its fashion views. Brits are daring, and this is why I can’t wait until London Fashion Week starts. Having flipped through the Pre-collections for S/S 2012 on Facebook, I’m ready to jump right over into next spring and enjoy the colour explosions from House of Holland, the perfect simplicity of Giles gowns, the beautiful textures of Matthew Williamson’s collection and the flamboyant pattern clashes at Peter Pilotto and Jonathan Saunders.
