It's been four and a half months since my last post. I've had my blogging break but it was necessary to make me undersand how much I've missed it.

There is no need to explain why I had that sudden stop with CHICLASH. Does that really matter? We all know that sometimes we just get too full of our laptop screens, too fed up with writing, we realise that we don't have the time note a thought or two on our pages. And that's when a blog starts to seem like a burden. It's as if you cannot stop because you'll loose readers, but you can't go on because you may loose yourself and the point in blogging. That, I believe, comes in cycles.

And now I'm happy to be back on my page to share whatever I can with the rest of you, my lovely readers and bloggers.

Many things have happened in the last few months. This means that this blog is a lot to catch up on. Gosh, I love the excitement of planning posts, there is beauty in that!

It took me a while to get the guts to start writing again. And it is like everything is usually - you think about what you are goin to write, select the right words but when it comes to the actual post, you may get lost for words. So I'll just begin thus:

I'm glad to be back, darlings! <3

And the winner is...

Jamie at THE ALTERATION! I found her idea of an outfit to match that Moyna clutch bag in my inbox and LOVED it!

What I liked in this combination is the clash of prints - it's always a rather brave thing to do. And the jewellery implies a punk feel, being delicate and feminine at the same time.

So congradulations, Jamie! The clutch will be delivered to you soon!

To be honest, this is the first time that I've done a contest like this and I was quite nervous when choosing a winner. Maybe it's because all of the outfits were worth the firtsplace. A big thank you to all of the participants! I loved your ideas!

PS I'm back from London and there's a long London post coming!

My fellow fashion bloggers, I'm off to London town in search of inspiration, Starbucks, Topshop goodies and other things close to heart. I'll be back on the 29th!

All of you who have already sent me your comments and photos to take part in my clutch competition, thank you! All your outfits are fabulous and it's already hard to choose the best one! Make it harder for me, girls! I want to hear more ideas from you!

Hope you all are having a sparkling summer!

Holiday fashion experience

So I'm back home, full of sensations, tanned, a little tired from the trip and pleased with the way things went, even though they didn't really go to plan.

I left home with hopes of practicing my photography skills at the Holiday Fashion Week but instead ended up practising my... modelling skills. One of the designers' models fell sick, and I was at the right moment in the right place to be picked to replace her. Therefore, I spent the whole time backstage waiting for my make-up and hair and photographing the process of preparation for the catwalk shows.

The day on which we went to the fashion week there were 14 shows on agenda so there was a lot of fuss taking place before the start.
Polina Moroz made it into the final in the V A Model contest in 2008

Boots from Artem Klimchuk's show

Remember Veronica? My frequent outfit feature.

My hairdo

I have no idea who he is

I wore a flesh-coloured swimsuit (teamed with heavy army boots and edgy gothic bracelets)

And here are some sneaky photographs of Artem Klimchuk's show made from backstage by another model while I was busy.

We all had a lot of fun after the shows at a pool party. It was very warm at night and we swam in the sea and enjoyed one hell of many cocktails. The rest of the weekend was full of sun, beaches, clubs, more clubs, more sun and constant party mode. Ah, I'm so happy the holidays are here - fully blooming both in fashion and in student life.

Enjoy the sun! x

I'm off to Odessa, determined to make some photographs at the Holiday Fashion Week. I'm also in hopes of getting behind the scenes but we'll see about that when I get there. Stay tuned, some Ukrainian fashion details are coming.

I still have to find my beach dress and my train is leaving soon, so I'll keep this post short.

Hope all of you, lovelies, are having some niiiice summertime.

A road to adulthood

Yesterday was Kyiv's prom night - a day when all the graduating school students could flaunt their charming outfits. I went to my friend's graduation and there are some photographs I want to share with you, my fellow fashion bloggers.

Don't they look cute? Congradulations on finishing school, girls!

Graduations of other people are so nostalgic and they make me think of my own school days. I nearly cried at the ceremony, nearly. I guess leaving school is a breaking moment in everyone's life, after which everything changes. Good luck to all of you who are leaving school this year as well! An exciting time is awaiting you!

On plastic stars

I usually don't get it when people go to Madame Tussaud's, for example, and start making photographs with all the wax versions of celebrities. It's fun to look at them, I guess, but it is only fun when the photographs are fun. Why do some people just stand by the "dolls" and make a straight face?

The whole wax-celebrities-photography is put in a totally new light when you mix in Anna Selezneva, a lot of deliscious designer clothing, V Magazine cast and put Terry Richardson behind the camera. Here's another of my beloved V-magazine editorials. I can somehow see how a photographer can get inspired by flipping though someone's home album with photographs from Madame Tussaud's. Enjoy.

I have finally finished my uni exams! So woohoo, I'm nearly a second year. Now I'm trying to get to the seaside in the nearest time, I hope I succeed. I have started writing for one of Ukrainian online magazines by the way (fashion, beauty and lifestyle articles). I guess that's big news and I will give you a link as soon as the website is translated into English.

Hope you're in the brightest of moods becuase the summer is shimmering, so love it!

Our Burberry girl

I read about this on the ELLEUK website yesterday. Emma just seems to be rocking the British fashion! Tell me what you think - is she the perfect choice for Burberry ads for autumn/winter 2009-2010?

She definitely looks good on these but I didn't really like the way she wore her Burberry back in 2008 (remember the sandy Prorsum collection dress teamed with heavy black accessories?) Well, at least she's done enough to become a symbol for the UK, so why not represent some truly British brands?

Shhh… girl talk

I have dreamt of my own wedding not very long ago. It was one of the most awkward things to see in a dream, to be honest, but it made me think about how it would be if I ever get married. Who would be the groom (the most important worry, really), what dress I’d have, and what ring THE ONE would put on my finger…

In Ukraine, people usually have plain gold rings to wed. In most western cultures, however, diamonds are involved. And that’s where things get hot because diamonds are a girl’s best friend at the end of the day. They are what turns and evening gown into a royal outfit.

I would want something very personal, be it an engagement ring or a wedding ring. Amongst all those diamonds offered on the market it’s very hard to find something that’s individual and suits your own style and taste. Wouldn’t it be perfect to have your jewelry “tailored”?

Not planning to marry just yet, but I do have some plans concerning a design of my own ring. I was given a tiny topaz from Sri Lanka which I want to combine with some silver and create a special ring and I’m still thinking about the design…

It’s always important to choose the right place to buy rocks. Even more so if you want to have a personal ring made. The place to do it has to be ABAZIAS. Not only can you find any type of diamond to please your desires, have it built into a ring of your choice but you can also do it ONLINE! It is a retailer that will offer you pleasant service, much space for improvisation and imagination when making your ring and, most importantly, unexpectedly reasonable prices.

Even if we don’t wear diamonds much, perhaps it’s time to rebel against all the crisis prejudices and get hold of one. In fact, in the middle of the global economic crunch, we have no choice but to look for cheaper ways to buy luxury, so diamond bargains are more than handy. After all, it is a very solid investment – and bought at quite a low price it can serve you in the future. So go on and pamper yourself (or imply it to your man).

So, all the single ladies, have you ever thought about your wedding or the ring you’d like to have then? I’d love to hear your stories.

I wish you all a magical day!

Swimming back in time

Retro-style swimwear is making its way back on the catwalks for this summer. The old silhouettes are so much more feminine than the modern minimal looks, so the vintage return makes me happy. You can't but agree that the designer have made the right choice this season.

Michael Kors

Gucci

I have also found my own photograph posing in a retro bikini. It was taken last summer, though...

Here's also a 1950s swimwear ad. There's so much modern design can learn from the vintage versatility. The old swimwear used to serve not only as swimsuits but as tops and bodies. Ah, and just look at that cape that turns into a pool dress. Enjoy.
