Tonight's gonna be a good night

My camera and I are coming to shoot the Krasilnikova show at the Ukrainian Fashion week tonight. And my bf came from St Petersbourgh and brought me these Levi's babies (I was hoping to wear them, but since it suddenly started to snow, we'll see how it goes). Enjoying the day so far. Apparently, the Moon is really close to Earth today, but hey - maybe it's a good thing!

Eyes wide shut

Every season we hold our breaths and wait to see what Liliya Litkovskaya has come up with for her show. And it's always a show. Not an ordinary display of a designer collection but a true masterpiece. Unfortunately, this time I didn't have a chance to see it right there on the catwalk. So lets enjoy these photos
from the show together.

And here goes the praise...


The coats! I'm in love with the coats! Unconventional cuts always fascinate me and this collection hits just the right notes.

The sheer fabric! Oh those chiffon blouses, made so gracefully that you don't even realise they are sheer.

Oh that fur! That indulgent, long, slightly scruffy perfect fur that makes femininity shine.

Oh those colours! This down-to-earth basic pallette that only proves that you DON'T need to put your models into mustard tights [cough cough] (as in one designer did this is the most unpleasant of ways) to be a good designer.

I wonder though: how did the models manage to walk with those masks/hats/headpieces?

UFW. Is there space for diplomacy?

Ukrainian Fashion Week has kicked off with a buzzing start. And what always gets me is the amount of criticism and hatred that you can hear behind the designers' backs. Ukrainian fashion is phenomenal in this sense, I guess. However, maybe some of them do deserve it. I really want to be a fashion diplomat here but let's be frank: I don't think I'd wear 95% of the clothes I saw in the first collections of these two days. And I couldn't help but wonder (notice my Carrie Bradshaw moment here): is there space for diplomacy in fashion? If you really hate a collection, should you say it to the designer's face?  

One particular collection killed me. Andre Tan - a much talked about designer - kills everyone with each of his collections. We all believe that it's his genius PR move. It seemed like he took the worst of the 1990's. He will, however, be forgiven by some of our pseudo-glamour-loving celebs. Good luck to them with these floral skirts.

Don't get the impression that our fashion is hopeless, though. I sincerely liked the ANISIMOV collection. Basic monochrome geek chic is fresh, considering that this season we will not really see much of it.

 I like it when Ukrainian fashion moves into simplicity. Unfortunately, it's rare.

Things about wind

Mango glasses, Gap parka, Levi's jeans, Topshot tee and Kurt Geiger sneakers

Wind is commonly known to be the best hairstylist out there. I don't know whether I can agree with this. Yet in March it brings change. The change that you feel in your skin when you realise that you no longer need to zip your coat up, especially when the sun comes out (at last) and makes us wear shades. I can feel this change in me now. Spring is here, baby! Let it begin.

The latest news of mine are the fact that I'm going to participate in the Kiev Fashion Blogger contest, organised by a very hip Ukrainian magazine Top 10. Starting from tommorrow I will be watched and I will blog my ass off in the hope of getting the first prize. =) So stay tuned and enjoy!

Inspired. And jealous

When I saw this street style shot at ELLE UK website, I thought, 'Londoners are lucky'. I wish I were able to wear something like this on the streets of my city right now. I'm longing for it. I'm longing fir this weather. I want my sandals out again. I want my shirts, and sheer skirts, and shorts, and all the lovely springwear out in the streets, not hanging in my closet! There's still snow outside my window in Kiev! Oh, Spring, come to town!

And those platforms are gorgeous, don't you think?

Prada spring campaign

Usually, fashion giants' ad campaigns don't really thrill me (it's like thanks to their greatness as a brand they don't have to try hard in their campaign videos), but this one got me smiling and wanting to dance around my office!

This season's Prada ad campaign is so vibrant, fun and moving that it even made me fall in love with the flat platform shoes (although at first I found this trend rediculous, to be honest). Isn't this video adorable?
