UFW - Day 4 Backstage

Yesterday I saw shows by Julia Aysina, BEKh and Larisa Lobanova. I went to photograph the preparations backstage. The atmosphere there is always so great: the thrill, the running around and last touches  by designers, stylists and make-up artists before the shows start.

The models were so tired, though. Some of them do something like 4 shows in a row, that must be exhausting. I caught a few lunching with their full make-up and hair done.

The designer called her SS2012 collection Ash. The was actually ash on the catwalk which made half of the front row sneeze and cough. Note to self: think twice before going over the top when making a show. 

This was the closing dress of the show. Out of the whole colelction I liked it the least, yet it did get the most attention.

The theme of her collection was love. And there was literally love everywhere: the show staretd with a couple kissing on the catwalk and continued with a lot of red, heart prints and graphics. Would wear any of it, but the  whole idea was cute.

UFW Day 3 - the fashionable crowd

The beauty of Ukrainian Fashion Week is that it brings together so many people from so many backgrounds (some of them don't even have anything to do with fashion, so the contrast of what you see in shows is daunting). Yet, there are some very very stylish people whom I adore. There's some eye candy there.

UFW - Day 3 shows

I went to see three shows. The first one - ARTEM KLIMCHUK - disappointed me. He used to be my favourite Ukrainian designer, and this time he came up with something looking slightly cheap. Although there were some great knited pieces.

Luvi - a duet of two designers, Luda Siedliar and vika Zagrafova - really impressed me. Simplicity, monochrome colour scheme and sexy transparent fabric on modest silhouettes never goes wrong.

The show by two lovely designers kamanskayakononova had some colour. At last! Both shows before them were pretty much black, white and beige. The suit in fresh green looked amazing.

What one cannot but notice here is that next spring is going to repeat the previous one in terms of maxi skirts. Transparent maxis were everywhere and still are. There's no escaping them, we've had microshorts and minis for too long.

Coffee between shows

Good evening, my lovely readers. I'm at Ukrainian Fashion Week right now, blogging between shows. This will be a hell of a busy weekend since I got a press pass through Modna Kasta (I will be writing about UFW for their blog, check it out here). Therefore, I'm very excited and in love with what I've seen so far. There'll be longer posts, but here's a sneaky peak from backstage.

Do you believe in Astrology? I check predicitons for my saign daily on the ELLE website (yep, a guilty pleasure of mine) yet I sometimes feel that I'm losing my true Leo spirit. We are supposed to be strong, confident, fearless and roar our way through life, but some things make me fall to pieces sometimes.

Note to self: need to unleash the lion inside me. Note to shoe lovers: below are my latest weakness from Zara. I have decided to wear them everywhere: from uni to office, from fashion week to the clubs. Will they help reveal the Leo in me?

Stam

My latest model obsession and inspiration is Jessica Stam. I just love the quirky and foxy look she has, and she has character. Isn't she beautiful in that W magazine editorial?
