Still not over

When flicking through The Sartolialist September posts I saw them yet again combined so finely with the midi skirt and the slouchy cardigan. Ah, the Prada S/S '11 platforms make my heart beat faster. No matter how much time goes by, I'll probably never get over them. Oh well.

On yellow

These are the last days of warmth in Kiev before heavy rains and preparations for winter start, therefore, one needs to stay sunny. These Timberland topsiders are my statement shoes for this autumn. And boy are they comfortable. I wore them to uni today, paired with Replay dungarees. The vest ic from Cos, the cardigan is Topshop and I got a pair of Mango shades there, too.

I'm very serious about switching to flats right now. Heels are sexy, but we just gotta stay comfortable with all the books and laptops we carry to work (just look at how much I'm holding in my hands on the photo there).

Blogger bonanza at The One

On Wednesday, I went to an event at The One - one of the loveliest and cosy showrooms in Kyiv. Fashion bloggers and journalists got a special offer - we could buy 1 item by a Ukrainian designer for just 10% of the original price. The selection process leading up to this caused quite a stir, I can tell you.

The event was very exciting. I felt like I was in the company of girlfriends preparing to go to a party - the bloggers helped each other to pick out the clothes, advised on combining them and discussed the upcoming Kiev Fashion Days.

As for me, I added a see-through top with patches of mint and khaki wool fabric by Anton Belinskiy to my wardrobe.I wore it to a party yesterday. Don't have a proper photo of it yet, but here's a glimpse.

Knowing that Ukrainian blogsphere get more and more involved in the development of fashion world makes me extremely happy. Thank you, Alina Malushkina, for organising this! We had a great evening.

A love letter to my favourite town

I miss London. Five years of my adolescence were spent in this beautiful, special city. What I really miss is its spirit. The britishness that cannot be mistaken for anything else is, of course, also one major fashion statement.

As a cliché, Eastern Europeans who have never been to the UK perceive British style as that which is very conservative, modest and elegant. Elegancy is one thing, but modesty is far from what I love in English fashion.

There is, in my opinion, no other nation that is so honest and free about its fashion views. Brits are daring, and this is why I can’t wait until London Fashion Week starts. Having flipped through the Pre-collections for S/S 2012 on Facebook, I’m ready to jump right over into next spring and enjoy the colour explosions from House of Holland, the perfect simplicity of Giles gowns, the beautiful textures of Matthew Williamson’s collection and the flamboyant pattern clashes at Peter Pilotto and Jonathan Saunders.

London, I love you.

Welcome the fall

Isn't 1st September great? It takes me back to my childhood, since this is the day school always starts in my country, and I remember how I went there for the very first time.
Now that I’m all grown-up, my uni starts on this day. And instead of a sweet schoolgirl dress, bows and the classic knee-highs I can wear this Gabrielle Strenesse dress with KG heels and a new haircut. So there’s a benefit of growing older.

Hope you all had a great start to new season. x

Musings on Georgian fashion

The holiday season for me is over. I am back home, with a veeery bad cold and folders and folders of photographs from this summer. The three months of it were exquisite. I hope you, darlings, had the best of them, too.

The folder from my week in Georgia makes me reminisce about the great and unique sense of Georgian style I saw in Batumi. We pretty much didn’t have time for shopping there, but I did get a glimpse of an all-Georgian fashion store at Flabour. Overall, this country, just like mine, in the sense of independence is young (since the USSR’s influence was substantial here, too). Yet I feel that fashion here is more mature, more sophisticated in a way, and quite daring.

Ethnic motifs add to this feeling. The quality that Georgian deseigners have in common is, in my opinion, a sort of serious approach to texture. It's not about play, it's serious stuff here we're talking about. The lace, the layers, the beadings and embroidery - real candy for us here, where a certain minimalism defines modern fashion. At least that's what i think.

My breath was taken away by a pair of shoes from the S/S 2011 collection by Anouki Bicholla (who, by the way, did a show in Kiev, as well). The ruffles and the spoon glued to the thick, strong, prominent heel is... ahh they are lovely. I tried them on and they happened to be very comfortable, too.

Just have to add, that I hope we see more Georgian brands in our stores soon. They are special.

Once upon a time in Georgia

I spent the whole of last week at my friend's house in Batumi, Georgia, right by the Black Sea. It was a phenomenal trip and a dream come true. It also involved a lot of packing, unpacking, dressing up and down, sun lotion, red wine and photographing.

Here are my favourite outfits from that week. I want to hear your comments! Enjoy.

H&M jumpsuit, KG platform sandals, Topshop bag

H&M dress, Accessorize flip-flops

Urban Outfitters bag and shirt dress, Christhelen B. flats

Oysho bikini

Topshop tee, skirt bought at TK Maxx

H&M tunic, Dune shoes

And what are you packing to wear on holidays?
PS More is coming from the Georgian folders soon. Stay tuned!
